What we collect

If you use the chat on this site to ask about work, we collect what you type into it. In practice that is your name, your mobile number, the address of the property, a description of the job, and your email address if you give us one for a confirmation.

We also keep the conversation itself, so the assistant can follow what you have already told it and so we can see what was said if something goes wrong.

There are no advertising or analytics cookies on this site and no third-party trackers. The chat stores a random session identifier in your browser so one conversation holds together; it says nothing about you.

Why we ask for a mobile number

Before we accept a request or book a visit, we text a short code to the number you give us and ask you to read it back. That confirms the number reaches you. Without it, anyone could book visits in someone else's name.

We use your number to send that code, to confirm a booking, and to contact you about the work. We do not send marketing texts. Reply STOP to any message to stop them.

Your property address

We look the address up to work out which of our two bases it is near, and whether it is close enough for us to visit. That lookup is done by Amazon Location Service. We keep the tidied address with your request so we know where the job is.

Who else sees it

Your request is stored in Amazon Web Services in the United States and is read by the Oak & Chisel team. A booked site visit is written into our own Google Calendar, held in Google Workspace, so the team knows where to be. You are not added to that calendar and cannot see it.

The assistant you chat with runs on Amazon Bedrock. What you type is sent there to produce a reply, and is not used to train anyone's model.

We do not sell your information, and we share it with nobody beyond the services named here, which handle it on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Verification codes are deleted automatically within minutes. Chat conversations are kept for 30 days. Enquiries and bookings we keep for as long as we may need them to do the work and to deal with anything arising from it.

Asking us to delete it

Email hello@oakchisel.com and ask, and we will delete what we hold about you. You can also ask us what we hold. We will not ask you for a reason.

Children

This site is for people arranging work on a property. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything about them.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we will change this page. Last updated 21 September 2026.
